WE MAPPED TURKEY’S COLORS WITH POLISAN

Based on data obtained from more than 7,000 points of sale across Turkey, we mapped the nation’s favorite interior and exterior paint preferences with our color consultant Oya Komar. Within the scope of our ongoing communication related to Home Cosmetics (Evimin Kozmetiği) since 2008, we have changed the definition and perception of paint in Turkey and the world. Our goal was to draw attention to the protective and aesthetic qualities of paint, which can also be found in cosmetics. We believe that colors and shades, the first things that come to mind in the paint and cosmetic worlds, speak to us with a special energy.  We were very excited to map Turkey’s favorite colors with color consultant Oya Komar. It gave us the opportunity to understand the color choices of the country’s different ethnic cultures, which have been living together for many years. Thanks to data from more than 7,000 points of sale around Turkey and our position as the sector’s most widely used paint brand, we believe that this research truly represents Turkey’s color preferences, as analyzed by Oya Komar.

Beige and Shades as Popular Preferences for InteriorsAccording to the results of our research, Turkey prefers three interior colors that are all touched with yellow.  The soft shade of “Beach Beige”, which pays its tributes to the color beige, the more neutral “Desert Beige”, and “Light Ivory” as a lighter shade are the three most popular shades in Turkey. The subtlest touch of yellow in Light Ivory is optimistic and motivating, bringing creativity and entertainment to mind. The yellow nuances in Beach Beige and Desert Beige  add intellectuality to the strong stance of the beige family. Color preferences change from province to province:

Marmara the Cosmopolitan Region of ColorsMarmara province is a cosmopolitan region for colors. Soft tones are used confidently along side vivid colors, such as the dominatingTerracotta Earth Shades followed by Mysterious Beige and Royal Lilac. The same diversity is seen on exteriors, too, where you can see low and high contrast colors, dark shimmering (pinky-bluish) and light shimmering (yellowy, orangey) colors, as well as light and dark colors. People from South Marmara, Bursa and the surrounding area choose from the Terracotta Earth Shades family. And their primary choice from the Fiori Vivid Colors family, featuring the colors except terracotta earth is Royal Lilac. We found that people in the Izmit area have completely different interior and exterior color tastes. They go for the highest contrast levels possible for exteriors while using more neutral colors inside. We believe this indicates Izmit is a region full of surprises.

Aegean’s Favorite: Yellow Touches and the Mediterranean’s Favorite: Light Colors with Blue Touches

In the Mediterranean and Aegean, especially in Izmir and its surrounding area, people select light, natural and earthy tones. And when colors tend to get more vivid, the Bianco White Dreams series, Terracotta Earth Shades series and green touches in the Fiori Vivid Colors series stand out. The people in and around Denizli prefer Terracotta Earth Shades for both their interiors and exteriors. And the area extending from Antalya to central Anatolia is in color harmony with their coastal neighbors when it comes to decorating interiors.

The Black Sea and Central Anatolia Go VividPeople in the Black Sea and Central Anatolia regions like vivid colors on interior walls. They choose either the yellows or pinks from the Fiori Vivid Colors series. Konya and the surrounding province like high contrast for their exteriors with varying yet vivid colors inside. Mostly red touches dominate interiors and exteriors.

“Mystreious Beige”: A Hit in the East and Southeast

While Mysterious Beige dominates south Anatolia, Istanbul Green stands out in the east and southeast. South Anatolia prefers Mysterious Beige with lilac touches, following light and soft colors. While people prefer shades of Fiori Vivid Colors in eastern and southeastern Anatolia, they like to paint their exteriors with shades of green.
